Marianne Seal-Smithberger joined the White Law Office in August 2017. While well versed in many practice areas offered by White Law Office, Marianne specializes in criminal law, oil and gas law, domestic relations, and civil litigation.
As a native of Richmond, Indiana, Marianne attended Richmond High School where she was an active member of her school newspaper and soccer team. Upon graduation, Marianne left the Hoosier state to attend Marietta College, starting her long love affair with the state of Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Political Science and was a member of the McDonough School of leadership and Business. During her undergraduate education, Marianne was an intern with the United States House of Representatives in Washington D.C. Prior to beginning her education in law, she worked as a legal assistant in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Marianne attended law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. During law school, she followed her passion for family law and was the Pro Bono Ambassador for the Family Law and Probate Society, participated in Family Trial Advocacy, and was part of the Randall O’ Sorrel’s Family Law Advanced Clinic and legally represented traditionally underrepresented populations. Marianne was also a member of the Phi Delta Phi honor society and a director of the Board of Advocates.
Marianne graduated from law school in May of 2017 and decided to take her talents back to Ohio to represent its people. She took and passed the Ohio Bar Exam in July and was sworn in as a member of Ohio Bar Association in November 2017.
She now lives in Woodsfield, Ohio with her husband and college sweetheart, Sean Smithberger. They are kept busy with renovating an old local farmhouse and their two dogs Gus and Lady. In her downtime, Marianne is passionate about volunteer work and has volunteered with organizations such as the Houston Food Bank, various local animal shelters, and The Brookwood Community, a residential and entrepreneurial community for disabled adults. She is currently a member of the Woodsfield Kiwanis and Moose Lodge 2247.
